Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

Preheat Air Fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.Mix the sliced chicken, onion slices, bell peppers slices, olive oil and fajita seasoning in a large bowl until everything is evenly coated.Add the mix into the air fryer basket and air fryer for 14-18 minutes, tossing a few times during cooking.Serve air fryer chicken fajitas as a salad (low carb) or as fajitas toppings of your choice.Note = serve without tortillas or with low carb tortillas. If not low carb then use regular tortillas.

Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model. I recommend starting out with less cook time, checking for doneness, and then adding more time as needed.

How

To Make Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas

Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F / 200 degrees C / gas 6.Mix all the ingredients for the Chicken Fajitas in a mixing bowl and make sure everything is fully coated.Add the mix to a rimmed sheet pan and cook for 18-24 minutes, turning halfway through using a large slotted turner or tongs.Serve air fryer chicken fajitas as a salad (low carb) or as fajitas with toppings of your choice.

Recipe Tips

Try and make sure the chicken strips are all the same size so they cook at the same rate. Use a sharp knife to slice them.Cook time depends on the size of chicken pieces and onion slices and bell pepper slices. So if you cut them small, then you might want to cook for a couple of minutes less than this recipe states. Also smaller pieces will char more than larger pieces.Turn these 3-4 times during cooking so everything has the opportunity to char for that delicious flavor. The meat is completely cooked through when a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F.

If short on time or spices, just use a mix of paprika and cumin to make this.Feel free to double or triple the recipe to serve a crowd. But if you double the recipe make sure to use an air fryer that is large enough to air fry the amount, otherwise it will steam not fry. You may need to cook this in two batches. If you are going to serve these with tortillas – then do so with warmed tortillas.

Favorite Fajita Toppings Ideas

You can really go to town with the toppings you add to this Tex-Mex dish. Just make sure the toppings fit whatever diet you may be following

For colour and flavour you can top with a little fresh cilantro and shredded lettuce.I prefer sour cream, but you can use Lime Crema, or plain greek yogurt with a little lime juice mixed inSalsa or Pico de Gallo works well. In a pinch just use some sweet fresh tomatoes diced up.Cheese – use your favorite shredded cheese or some Cotija. You can add extra bulk with items like refried beans, charred corn and rice.

Delicious Variations

This version is good as is. But if you want to then you can mix and match with a teaspoon or so of different herbs and spices to suit your taste.

Vary the herbs and spices – feel free to add in onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano and if you like heat then chipotle paste, chili powder and red pepper flakes.Add citrus – you can add include; lime juice, lime zest, or lemon zest. Vary the meat – You can just as easily make these with skinless turkey breast or skirt steak. Vary the veggies – whilst the peppers and onions are enough, I have added in at the end others like charred corn and black beans when not on a low carb diet.
