How to Make Apple Cider Spice Mix

The first thing you do is infuse the brown sugar with 2 tablespoons of tangerine zest for at least 12 hours. Place the brown sugar in an air-tight bowl or container add the tangerine zest, cover and let it sit for about 12 hours. I usually do it overnight. I do this for our Holiday Spice Flat White too, it makes a huge difference. In a medium-size bowl mix the tangerine sugar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, mace, and nutmeg. Whisk to combine. Store in air-tight containers. Heat the apple cider until hot and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of the spice mix. Stir to dissolve. Viola! Instant mulled cider. This homemade spice mix makes a wonderful gift basket! Just add a bottle of apple cider or a bottle of red wine such as Syrah or Malbec. Makes a tasty mulled wine! Or a couple of fun winter mugs, some cinnamon sticks tied together with a fun ribbon. Mix it up! Check out our Spice Apple Cider Biscotti Recipe.
