Anyone up for a gorgeous purple Blackberry Smoothie for breakfast, or brunch, or snack or well dinner (it totally works for that I tell you). Not sure if I have told you this before but my house is surrounded by miles and miles and miles of very beautiful hedges. Full of hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, with oaks standing proud, and flowers all spring and summer. Full of wildlife. We have much fun trying to spot the different birds and butterflies through the different seasons. Come this time of the year though, our hedge priorities change into one word. Blackberries. Yeap, the hedges become choc-a-block with blackberries and boy oh boy are the mini chefs happy. They will spend hours sat together in happy, sticky, purple juicy enjoyment just picking and eating blackberries.

I have fond memories of when they were younger of the occasional acknowledging’mama yook, we share the brackbrie’ yells. When they are eventually full, they traipse indoors with their purple faces and hands and hand over a bowl full of blackberries with a ‘mama yook, we bring you some’. Sweet huh? Well, that bowl of berries ends up in this delicious filling breakfast Blackberry Smoothie that then makes Freddy very happy too. Perfect right?
