1 stick butter, softened

1 cup sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg

2 cups whole wheat flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

3 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp salt

1 cup applesauce, unsweetened

For Frosting:

1 stick butter, softened

8 oz cream cheese, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a loaf pan.

Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the vanilla and the egg, beating until well combined.

Whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

Add dry ingredients and applesauce to the wet ingredients. Beat until combined.

Spread batter in the loaf pan and bake for about 1 hour until golden brown.

Making the icing

Beat together the butter and cream cheese until combined.

Add the powdered sugar and cinnamon. Continue beating for 6-8 minutes.

Spread on cooled cake and serve.
