How To Make Sesame Chicken?

Have all ingredients ready before starting to cook. You will need two shallow dishes, a small saucepan, and a medium-sized skillet, as well as a slotted spoon and a spatula.

In a shallow dish, beat the egg together with two tablespoons of soy sauce. To this mixture, add the chicken pieces and two tablespoons of cornstarch. Mix well until all the chicken pieces are well covered in the mix. While the oil is heating in a medium-sized skillet over medium-high heat, make the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the water, honey, ketchup, sesame oil, lime juice, a pinch of salt, and the remaining tablespoon of soy sauce. Stir and simmer for 10 mins until thickened. Once the oil is hot, fry the chicken pieces in batches until brown and crispy. Transfer them to a plate lined with a paper towel. Transfer them to a shallow dish and pour the sauce over them. Make sure all chicken pieces are well covered with sauce. Serve over white rice and top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Sesame Chicken Sauce

This sauce is very easy to make with ingredients you indeed have in your fridge and pantry. It has sweetness provided by honey, tartness provided by lime juice and ketchup, a salty element provided by soy sauce, and the main ingredient, sesame oil. All this is simmered until the sauce thickens and glistens, thus covering the chicken pieces perfectly.

How To Store Sesame Chicken?

If you have any leftovers, make sure they are at room temperature before storing them in an airtight container and into the fridge for up to 4 days. You can also freeze sesame chicken for up to 4 months. Always remember to label the container with the date.

Can You Reheat Sesame Chicken?

You can. It will never be as crispy as freshly made, but it will still taste amazing. You can heat it in the microwave or on the stovetop in a skillet over medium heat. You can heat it in a 350 F oven for about 10 mins, but be careful not to burn it.
