Mojitos just so happen to be a favorite cocktail of mine and when paired with kombucha, another favorite beverage of mine, it’s like a match made in heaven. Add some strawberries, mint and lime and you’ve got yourself one delicious Strawberry Mojito Kombucha Cocktail – perfect for the hot summer days that are upon us! Wondering how we feel about alcohol consumption? Check out our answers in this blog post.
Say goodbye to sugar-laden cocktails!
A traditional mojito contains about 24 grams of cane sugar per 8-10 oz. drink. To put that into perspective that’s 6 teaspoons of sugar!! No thanks. So rest assured, you won’t be consuming that amount of sugar with this Strawberry Mojito Kombucha Cocktail. Instead of adding all.that.sugar, I’ve made this cocktail less sweet, but still sweet enough, thanks to the fresh strawberries and sparkling kombucha – coming in at just 8 grams of sugar per serving. Much better!
Kombucha makes for a great low-sugar mixer!
Kombucha is a fermented tea that contains gut-healthy probiotic bacteria. While there is some sugar used when making kombucha, most of it is gobbled up by the healthy bacteria. In this Low-Sugar Strawberry Mojito Kombucha Cocktail recipe, I like to use GTS original or Ginger but many flavors would work so feel free to choose what sounds best to you. I do recommend looking at the grams of sugar in the kombucha that you choose as some do contain extra sugar to make it more sweet. I look for one with 6 or less grams per serving. When it comes to using a kombucha as a “mixer,” the options are endless! You could keep it simple by mixing it with equal parts of sparkling water plus a splash of vodka, rum or white wine OR you could get a bit more creative like I’ve done with this Low-Sugar Strawberry Mojito Kombucha Cocktail. Whatever you choose, you’re bound to end up with a refreshing and delicious cold drink in your hand! And if this recipes sounds like a winner, you’ll also want to give our Cucumber Basil Kombucha Mule a try!
Looking for a non-alcoholic beverage…no problem. Mocktail it is!
Simply omit the vodka or rum in this recipe and add additional sparkling water or kombucha. Making these changes also makes for the most perfect Whole30 mocktail!
I hope you’re ready to kick back and enjoy this cold, refreshing, kombucha cocktail!
