Delighted to have teamed up with Parma Ham to bring you this recipe. Although it is a sponsored partnership, all opinions are my own. Spaghetti is so comforting and filling. As much as I enjoy my vegetables and Sierra Leonean flavours, a plate full of garlicky buttery spaghetti can be hard to beat. It’s so easy to make and serve for a crowd or just for your family. I love making a quick garlic butter sauce to go with my spaghetti especially if I am in a bind and need a meal fast. Butter Garlic Pasta with Parma Ham is ready in less than 30 mins making it the perfect meal to feed your crowd whether it’s a busy weekday or the whole family is coming over last minute for dinner. We always have butter and garlic on hand making it the perfect sauce for my pasta. Spaghetti is a pantry staple in our house too. Today I am topping my comforting meal with the perfect salty meat – proscuitto di Parma. It’s so good on its own but in my garlic butter pasta the Parma Ham adds the perfect amount of salty sweet meat flavour to an already great dish. Top your pasta with your favourite parmesan cheese and herbs for more delicious Italian flavour. The mini chefs ate every last bite of this comforting meal. Parma Ham
So guys before you head off to make yourself some delicious pasta can I tell you a little bit more about the rather awesome Parma Ham. I was lucky enough to be invited by the Parma Consortium to visit a Parma Production Centre.
Now if you know me you would know that Parma Ham would be one of my desert islands takes so you can probably guess how excited I was to be able to do this. Plus, the thought of actually being able to eat Parma Ham, all day and every day was just the bees knees.
Why You’ll Love Parma Ham
The first thing is that surprised me was the actual ingredients of Parma Ham. And guys wait for it…… Parma Ham is all natural and made with simple ingredients that everyone can understand – pork, salt, air and time. There are absolutely no additives to the Parma Ham as it’s prohibited by law. It’s just delicious natural prosciutto flavour in every package. Yeap, that it is.
The Parma Ham Process
And it was rather fascinating to see the whole process. The pork used comes from one of ten regions in the northern or central area of Italy and only three types of pigs can be used: Large White, Landrace and Duroc. Only the best legs of pork are selected to be turned into Parma Ham.
These then go through a salting process which is done by a salt master and is the perfect amount of sea salt to begin the drying process at various temperatures and in the absolutely perfect conditions. And just so you know, Parma ham must be cured for 1 year by law and sometimes up to 3 years.
But even better is the fact that the hams are then inspected by an independent inspector who has to stamps their seal of approval before the hams get designated as Parma Hams. So you know when you see that seal that you are getting only the best.
